Compassionate Crowns is a charity based pageant program created in 2006 when I was approached by the aunt of a young boy with Leukemia.  Her daughter had an idea of how to raise money for St Jude's Midwest Affiliate located in Central, IL, and Compassionate Crowns was born.  After many months of planning and preparation, the contestants, friends and family members of Compassionate Crowns raised $1000 for St. Jude.  On Aug 1, 2009 contestants, friends and family members presented another check for $2550, LIVE during the St Jude Telethon on NBC local news channel WEEK 25.

Since that time Compassionate Crowns has had many changes in the way our pageants are run.  We have grown and expanded to accommodate many charities including Coats for Kids, Mooseheart Int'l, the Heart of IL Down Syndrome Association (HOIDSA), Tazewell Animal Protective Society (TAPS), C.B. Smith Primary School, March of Dimes and the Salvation Army.  O
ur contestants come from all over IL and surrounding states including MI, WI, IN, MO, KY and TN.

At Christmas, Compassionate Crowns friends and families have sponsored families in need by purchasing and wrapping gifts for the children who might not otherwise have a holiday.  Gifts were delivered in time to be placed under the Christmas trees of over 50 children on Christmas Eve.  We also spend several hours baking cookies to be delivered to retirement and nursing homes throughout Pekin, IL as well as volunteering to ring bells for the Salvation Army.  Some of our other fundraising events include bake sales, photo contests, and benefits.

Compassionate Crowns has been featured in the Peoria Journal Star, Bloomington Pantagraph, Pekin Daily Times, as well as the HOIDSA monthly  newsletter.  We can be seen on floats in several parades throughout IL, including the Pekin Marigold Festival Parade, Taylorville 4th of July Parade, Stonington Summerfest Parade, and Pekin Winter Wonderland Parade.

You can even find us at Disney World with Mickey and Friends!

A new kind of beauty pageant that rewards contestants not only for their physical beauty, but for their inner beauty, service and dedication to charities while helping the less fortunate.  Our highest title is based on fundraising, not the most beautiful.  We feel each child should be judged individually.  Therefore, we do not require contestants to participate in a line-up.  We accept contestants of any age and encourage you to make appearances while displaying your crown and sash.

It is never required to enter a pageant in order to be part of our Compassionate Crowns family.  Just as it is never required that contestants participate in volunteering, appearances or fundraisers.  You can participate in Compassionate Crowns any way you're comfortable.  Join us for ANY event you'd like to help with!  Everyone is welcome at each scheduled event, even if you've never done one of our pageants!

Feel free to take a look around our site.  Don't hesitate to ask any questions.  We are here to assist you and/or your child in the goals of personal growth and self confidence.

I hope you choose to join us and become part of our Compassionate Crowns Family.

Feb 22, 2010 ~ Bria had so much fun at the pageant this weekend.  She even made some new friends.  I am so thankful for your pageants.  Not only do you help out charities in need, you make every child feel special.  Thank you.

Feb 22, 2010 ~ Allie had a great time at the pageant. Thank you for all of your help. It is truly the best pageant we have been to. I love the fact that you give to charity and that every girl walks away a winner. She is really wanting to do the mini- nationals so hopefully we will see you there. Thanks again, Kellie

Feb 21, 2010 ~ I just wanted to thank you for the most pleasant pageant experience. My daughter and I had a fabulous time!! I look forward to more of your pageants. Thank you!! Lisa Varga

Feb 21, 2010 ~ WOW! What a rockin' pageant. Thanks to everyone for such a great pageant. It has been a while since we have participated in any pageant and literally everyone was delightful, fun and helpful. Way to go Miss Joyce and CC :) ~mg & mg

Dec 17, 2009 ~ I can't help but think how in the last few years Compassionate Crowns has influenced Camiryn's outlook on helping others and pitching in, in times of need.  I know CC isn't the only positive influences in her life (it takes a village to raise a child), but I thought you should know--especially during the Holiday Season--that you are appreciated.  Merry Christmas!!  Tammi

Dec 15, 2009 ~ I just wanted to say how impressed I was with your pageant and what an honor and joy it was to be able to be a part of it! Please keep me in mind for future events- I would be more than happy to help or even host an event up here! K.B.

Nov 15, 2009 ~ We have cut back on the number of pageants we do since the economy is tough, but I feel that your pageants offer so much that it is worth the fees.  My daughter (child's name withheld at parents request) loves to compete and you always make sure every kid gets a crown and feels like a winner.  Thanks!

Nov 8, 2009 ~ I just wanted to let you know that you put on an AWESOME pageant today! We had a great time and look forward to being in more of your pageants.  You really went above and beyond what I had expected. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to be a part of the day!        Katrina Colbeck & Quinn Colbeck
